On the morning of November 19th, invited by College of Environmental Science and Engineering of TYUT, Professor Pan Bo, the head of College of Environmental Science and Engineering of Kunming University of Technology, visited our college for communication and delivered an academic report entitled “Reactivity and Environmental Effects of Pyrolytic Carbon Materials” at 307, Building A of Borui. Representatives of teaching staffs and students of our college and College of Chemistry Engineering of TYUT participated in the report, which was presided by Professor Yi Qun, the vice director of our college.
At the beginning of the report, Professor Pan Bo introduced the history, teaching and researching situation of College of Environmental Science and Engineering of Kunming University of Technology. Then, he described his research contents and main results such as the reactivity of biochar and the removal mechanism of organic pollutants by biochar and its application. Professor Pan Bo emphasized on solving scientific problems in the process of continuous research and exploration and encouraged us to solve engineering problems in the similar process of tackling scientific problems. In the end, teaching staffs of the two colleges had a warm discussion with Professor Pan on related issues. Professor Pan has profound attainments in his research field and his report was rich in content and was enlightening with lively atmosphere of on-site communication.
After the report, the leaders of our college invited Professor Pan to attend a colloquium with two deans of Department of Environmental Engineering and of Water Supply and Drainage and teachers in related research fields present. During the colloquium, the two sides had an in-depth exchange on the construction and development of disciplines and scientific researches of them, saying that they could strengthen cooperation in scientific researches and encourage students from both universities to exchange for study.

Professor Pan Bo is the Head of College of Environmental Science and Engineering of Kunming University of Technology, Head of Innovation Team of Yunnan Province of Soil Environment and Ecological Security, Director of Key Laboratory of Soil Carbon Fixation and Pollution Control in Yunnan Province, winner of Outstanding Youth Fund of National Natural Science Foundation of China, leader of National Ten Thousand Talents Program in science and technology, leader of young and middle-aged science and technology innovation of National “Innovative Talents Promotion Program”, leader of Yunnan’s Ten Thousand Talents Program in science and technology, leader of “National Worker Pioneer”, deputy editor-in-chief of European Journal of Soil Science, Editorial Board of Journal of Applied Ecology, member of Environmental Geography Committee of China Geographical Society, member of Soil Environment Committee of China Soil Society, academic leader of Yunnan Province and the recipient of special allowance of Yunnan provincial government. He has presided over 15 major scientific and technological projects at the national, provincial and ministerial levels; He has published more than 130 SCI papers in international academic journals such as Environmental Science & technology, Water Research and Carbon.
